When you are painting you will need to consider just what type of finish you would like, many people think Gloss and satin finish paint is the same type of paint because they both leave a shine finish but they are not the same, they do have subtle differences.
Gloss
– Gloss paint leaves a high shine finish which is very reflective.
– Gloss paint tends to be one of the most hard-wearing paints and is generally used on skirtings and wooden doors.
– Gloss is easy to clean but can highlight any imperfections due to its sheen.
– Gloss can take up to 24 hours to thoroughly dry due to the thickness of it.
– Traditionally Gloss colours were limited but in recent years there is a lot more choice.
Satin Finish Paint
– Satin Finish paint will leave you with a medium shine, which is not as reflective as traditional gloss.
– Satin finish paint hides imperfections rather than highlights them as gloss does
– Satin finish paint is not as hard-wearing as gloss paint but is more hard-wearing than other paint choices such as silk.
– Satin finish paint is commonly used on interior walls such as kitchens or living spaces due to its durability.
– Satin finish paint tends to come in a wider choice of colours than traditional gloss paint.
